Welcome to #TestimonialThursday! This week’s interview is with tax adviser Kimberliann Chambers, an enrolled agent who has been doing taxes for three decades and launched Dollars & Cents (DAC) Tax and Accounting Services in 20ll. Kimberliann lives in New York, where she works both onsite and remotely, specializing in tax preparation, advisory, and tax debt resolution services around the States.

Why did you choose TaxDome?

Interestingly enough…I chose TaxDome because of two main features on the portal: the document-lock feature that associates a document with an invoice and the client-view feature where a client can prepay and/or view their bill whenever they check their account.

I have always used a portal and have been building a virtual platform for a few years. Although I am not 100 percent virtual, I find it important to provide flexibility as I work toward training my clients to utilize virtual services.

What do you like most about TaxDome?

To be honest: the responsiveness of Victor and Ilya. Hands down their willingness to be open to my suggestions and feedback is priceless. Not everyone will listen to recommendations to  make your workflow easier—and actually implement them! They have.

What are the three TaxDome features most useful to your firm?

My favorite features are being able to lock my work to the invoice and that the client cannot download until they have paid for the service. Next would be the client dashboard with a view of balances owed and the ability to prepay for services. Last, I like that communication with the client can happen on the same platform. I get way too much email, so it’s convenient to be able to have and store all communication with  a client in one place.

How have your clients responded to TaxDome?

There is some reluctance to use it based on our current focus on poor global cybersecurity,  but I am informing my clients by sending them reassuring information on the security of TaxDome so that they acclimate to it. Virtual everything is the way the world is headed, and this is the kind of workflow I aspire to achieve for my practice.

Are there tedious or time-consuming tasks that TaxDome has helped make easier or more efficient?

From a data-management perspective, everything has been great. TaxDome works well to foster a smooth upload, process, review, and pay workflow for my tax clients. It has enhanced my goal of becoming a 100 percent virtual company.

How has integrating your business management with TaxDome made a difference for your firm?

Working with TaxDome is helping us get closer to our goal of having a seamless and paperless tax and accounting services operation.

Are there features that you are missing from TaxDome? Or features you wish could be added to TaxDome? (Note that we can consider adding these as well as let you know expected roll-out dates)

Personally, I would like to see an e-signature function and be able to upload my own organizer forms for the customer to fill out.

Editor’s note — e-signature is available, but not knowledge-based authentication which is required for Form 8879 – this is coming in the fall. Similarly, a big update to the organizer (to allow the firm to create their own organizer(s) is coming, as well

Are there any additional thoughts about TaxDome you’d like to share?

I believe in the TaxDome experience and their growth potential. They truly designed this portal solely with virtual tax and accounting firms in mind. I find the platform easy to use with its clean and professional design. The entire team is awesome and forward-thinking, and I’m excited to see what kind of enhancements they bring to their product in the future.
