Redesigned Client Portal Documents Section & Mobile App Scanner Upgrades

We are excited to introduce the new client portal document section. We believe this release will solve a key pain point: make it easier for clients to find the files you need them to see. We’ve added two new sections – Recent files & Waiting for action – our testing shows that this will make a marked improvement in your client experience.

Another pain point we have heard from firm owners and staff is that despite having a PDF mobile scanner, clients upload too many .jpg and .heic files. Why does this occur? JPG and HEIC files are created when clients use their phone camera tool instead of the native scanner provided by the Mobile App. We’ve done an audit of every place your client can upload files and made the primary option the use of the scanner. Additionally, we’ve made UX upgrades and removed extra steps – your clients can now upload files with fewer clicks.

New Recent files and Waiting for action areas

We’ve added new areas to locate documents so you clients could immediately see what your firm expects from them:

  • Waiting for your action groups all files that require any client reaction: Signature, approval, etc.
  • Recent files shows the most recently updated files, making it easy to find “the document I was just looking at”

In addition to the above, we removed two extra clicks & sped up the upload process for your clients, making it even easier to send documents to your firm in the web browser or mobile app.

Scanner more prominent in Mobile App

In July 2020 we released the PDF scanner for the mobile app. However, we’ve received feedback that many clients were not using it and uploading photos from their phone. Our research revealed that this was a UX issue, where the scanner was not the first option offered to clients and was omitted in two upload screens. We’ve done a full audit of the mobile app and added the Scan option everywhere where clients can upload files. In user testing, this has led to a 200% increase in use of the scanner.

As a reminder, the Client Portal Mobile App is available for iOS & Android. Here is a guide on how your clients can install the Client Portal Mobile App.

Sneak peek! Global Documents section

We’re super excited to share that in the near future we will be adding a global documents section for firms. By ‘global’ we mean that it will show all documents across all clients in one organized view. Over time, we plan to add ‘global’ sections across all TaxDome features (messages, organizers, contracts, etc).
