Tax season is getting closer and closer by the day, and we’re confident that your team will be prepared to handle client growth and provide outstanding client experience with TaxDome.

Following the major releases of the redesigned Documents section and the brand-new Calendar, we’re excited to introduce the fully revamped Firm Insights homepage. This dashboard gathers in one place a high-level summary of what firm owners and staff need to know to get work done. Usability testing has indicated a 95% satisfaction level among firm owners who were able to complete the more common activities utilizing the dashboard. Read on to see feedback from early access users.

Sneak peek: along with this major release we are working on lead management, simplified account creation, recurring invoices, creating time entries from invoices and much more!

Let’s review this and other improvements in detail.

📊 New: Firm Insights Dashboard

The Insights page gives you a high-level summary of activities across your firm. You can filter by the time period to analyze team performance, manage the workload and stay on top of pending client activity.

The Insights page consists of fully customizable widgets. Each member of your team can set up their own widgets to ensure they see information that’s most important for them.

The Insights dashboard enables you to:

  • Plan your own work
  • Oversee the work of your team
  • View all pending client activity
  • Identify issues and manage workloads
  • Identify high-priority tasks and jobs

Our early access program participants shared that the new dashboard helps them prioritize their work and plan efficiently. Among other feedback, they highlighted smooth navigation and a sleek user interface. Additionally, usability testing indicated a 95% satisfaction level among firm owners who used the dashboard to better manage client activity in real time and to complete the more common tasks such as reassigning a job from an employee on sick leave to another employee.

📒 Organizers

Pre-filled client data in organizers

For tax preparers, tax season generally starts out the same way every year: gathering client information through organizers and intake forms.

The goal of any intake form is to have the client complete it. The TaxDome organizer is focused on the experience of the client and also tackles the most common intake issues. TaxDome’s organizers:

  • Use smart conditions that allow you to create an interview instead of a long-form
  • Are interactive, with answers auto-saved
  • Are integrated into the client portal
  • Are integrated with Documents
  • Are integrated into the firm’s workflow: you can create dependency that when the client submits the organizer, this triggers other actions within your firm

This month’s update takes the client user experience one step further. Your clients can now roll forward answers from prior organizers by opting to pre-fill them with previous answers, saving a tremendous amount of time on retrieving information and completing data entry. This leads to clients completing organizers faster and is associated with a better experience of working with your firm. As a result, your firm will receive the necessary data from clients faster and increase retention, as your clients will know that each subsequent experience of working with your firm will be easier.

When clients have at least one prior organizer, a “Pre-fill” button appears. Once they click on it, answers will populate from prior submissions. Your clients will only need to fill out the sections that have changed.

Within the next few weeks, we will release an additional update that will allow firms to stipulate specifically which questions can be rolled forward and which must be entered anew each time.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 Client portal

Documents locked to invoices: enhanced invoicing flow

When documents are locked to invoices, clients cannot view the files until the associated invoice has been paid. This highly used feature is helpful for firms to control accounts receivable and spend zero time chasing clients for payment.

With this update, we’ve upgraded the user experience and changed the wording on the client-facing screens, making it clearer what they need to do to access the files.

To-Do dashboard update

Only pending organizers will appear in the To-Do section of the client portal. Archived and sealed organizers will be hidden.

Sneak peek: We’re in the process of redesigning the to-do list of the client portal with an even clearer focus on what your clients need to do to complete tasks on their end.

💰 Billing & Invoicing

TaxDome’s QuickBooks integration refined

TaxDome integration with QuickBooks now allows for the ability to select which client accounts you would like to sync with TaxDome. Keeping the financial data synchronized across the platforms is essential to your business, and now you can control exactly what you sync and when.

Previously, synchronization was only possible during import and when invoices were created. Now, you can choose when to sync all of your accounts, sending information from TaxDome to your firm’s QuickBooks account prior to invoices being created.

Invoice creation flow: UI/UX update

Previously, we added autocomplete functionality to the service name field, making it easier to add client-facing itemized list of services to your invoices.

Usage data has shown that firms are often reusing services. Now, when you click on a field, you can see the 10 services most recently used by your firm.
