TaxDome was created to be an all-in-one solution for accounting practices of all sizes, and today we’re excited to introduce a suite of team communication tools: @mentions (tag your colleagues) and the ability to disassociate notifications on an account (follow) from account access (previously, these were intertwined).
This has been a long-requested feature from our community and we’re proud to bring it to you, enabling teams to work even better within TaxDome.
Let’s go over a sample scenario: as a manager, your job is to assign work to staff and ensure it gets done; you want the ability to track progress and quickly alert your team of any potential issues if you detect them. Or, you may want to ask a clarifying question.
Next month we will be conducting a webinar dedicated to team management in TaxDome where we’ll go over these topics & more. We’ll announce the details in our Facebook communities. Stay tuned!
@Mentions
@Mentions, or the ability to tag team members, is crucial for effective team communication. In TaxDome, you can now mention colleagues in:
- Account notes
- Task descriptions
- Messages
Mentioned colleagues will then receive a notification in email, Inbox+ (each user can toggle how they wish to receive notifications in their settings).
As a firm owner, you can always sort jobs and tasks by due date and use mentions to follow up with the assigned team members about their tasks.
By mentioning employees in secure messages, you can simply loop them in without them losing the context of the conversation.
Follow/Unfollow Account
When you ‘follow’ any client account, you receive notifications about all changes in this account. This allows you to reduce clutter but keep ‘watch’ over an account.
If you are assigned to the account, the ‘follow’ option is enabled by default. However, you are able to unfollow accounts you are assigned to so that you won’t get notified about changes. You can use this feature, for example, if you’ve completed your part of a job and don’t want your Inbox+ to be cluttered with tasks you’re not working on.
The ‘follow’ option helps you take good care of VIP clients and train new employees, as it allows you to quickly react to changes in their accounts.
What’s next
You have the ability to @mention teammates even if they don’t have access to an account. For now, if you mention a colleague who doesn’t have access to the account, they will be notified, but if they lack access they won’t be able to join the discussion. Soon, team members will be able to request access in such cases, and you can grant them access directly in Inbox+.
Also, you’ll soon have the ability to bulk follow and unfollow accounts as well as follow jobs and tasks.
